3:00 Update – sent out email about updates to YouTube recipes for IFTTT SEO

DFY Networks

5:00 DFY Networks price increase

6:00 I'm thinking of giving the DFY IFTTT networks a go, so my questions relate to those but also to the IFTTT approach in general.

1. Is it better to create the IFTTT network properties over a period of time?

2. Likewise, if building further rings to reinforce Tier 1, should the Tier 2 and Tier 3 pages (or any other links) be built over a longer (“more natural”) timeframe?

3. Is it therefore possible/advisable to order the DFY IFTTT Tier 1 and Contextual Backlink package at the same time?

I want to be sure that any subsequent haste in getting those links built doesn't become a negative factor.

Linking Directly to PBNs and Money Site

10:00 It is my understanding that you very rarely link directly from your PBNs to your money site and that you sometimes use SAPE links. Do you ever link directly to your money site? If so, with what type of links?

Displaying Online Tools

3:00 I need a tool (screen) to display all my online “tools” for easy reference – my bookmarks are getting out-of-control.

Buffer and Pinterest Syndication

6:00 I noticed that Buffer now supports posting to Pinterest. I am setting up an IFTTT recipe to post from Flickr to Buffer, and then hoping Buffer will post to Pinterest. The missing part is where you choose which BOARD to post to.

Google Plus in IFTTT Networks

8:00 Can we take just a few minutes to explain all the different Google web properties we sign up with in setting up an IFTTT network and what links should we be using. More specifically, there seems to be a Google Plus page, a Google Plus Profile, a Business page and whatever else?!?

Linking Web 2.0 with PBNs

15:00 PBN question: I here some people link straight to the money site and some people link to a Tumblr or Weebly , Web 2.0. Why do you recommend linking to a Web 2.0 if the PBN is well themed and secure?

Building Quality High Links Fast

3:00 In your opinion what would be the easiest way to accomplish this where I can set up an automated campaign to run across let’s say 30 days, building high quality links (such as high DA web 2.0’s).

Sourcing Content Syndication

How would you suggest sourcing the content considering it needs to be high quality content (for Tier1)? Could we somehow set up RSS feeds from high authority sites and mix our links into that content and syndicate it across the Tier 1 platforms? How else do you source good content that is easy to acquire without paying someone to write articles?

I’m doing a lot of manual link building from PBN’s and I really need something that I can set up and forget but trust to do a good job.

Siloing Sites

9:00 I have a site that I created before I knew anything about silos or structuring a website properly. I have tried to do a modified silo by having 4 pages that link to the home page and posts related to each page topic/category linking to the page and the home page, but know that was done somewhat inconsistently. http://www.bruceclay.com/seo/silo.htm

Best Practices in Using Syndwire

16:00 If you could go over best practices for Syndwire… I think that you have stated that tier 2 only for money site and tier one or direct to video and other high DA. Should you be putting other content in the form of feeds to these accounts similar to what we do with IFTTT and do you even theme these networks? Thanks

YouTube Live Videos

20:00 I want to make a single video into multiple videos that appear unique using the standard YT video upload. I don’t know how to do it using YT Hang outs and live events. At this time, I’m more interested in getting test videos on YT/Google. Will varying the length +/- a few seconds, or using different background music, etc. work. Can I use the standard YT upload or does it only work with using YT live and hangouts? Are there other things that I can do?

Proxies for Google Account Creation

22:00 1. Bradley mentions using a particular type of proxy or at least requirements of the proxies we need to use. What kind of proxies should we be using to create Google accounts?

2. Should we be using our proxies for anything other than creating google accounts?

3. Quick question about PBNs and hosting: SEO hosting or dollar hosts, and why?

4. Another quick one about PBNs: can I add all of them to one webmaster tools account? Even if I had 100s?

5. Does setting up subdomains have any other SEO advantages apart from protecting the root domain from potential black hat backlash?

Domain Extensions

31:00 6. Does having the other extensions for a site help in the same way subdomains do? .org .net .co etc.

Personas Vs. Branded Networks on Different Niches

32:00 7. I know the training says create personas, but I wondering about making simply branded networks around different niches… Is there a reason other than the work that would cause you to discourage this?

How Press Release Works

33:00 8. Could you explain to me how press releases work that would be great.

YouTube Embeds in Web 2.0s Properties in IFTTT Networks

38:00 How do I get videos embedded into WP, Tumblr, Blogger from a YT feed? I am using the new YT feed in IFTTT. This is a “Tier1 Persona” network.

41:00 (crowdsearch.me) All my campaigns are showing a Keyword Search Volume of 25 and hence have Smart Rank disabled.

42:00 – Is there a penalty for repeating certain content pieces on almost every page of a blog?

44:00 – Can you have a few different YouTube playlist video embeds on your site when each playlist may repeat one or more of the same individual videos in them? Will that be duplicate content?

– Have you ever tried a blog setup with a series of posts and pages which you change all the time rather than writing new posts and pages each time there is something new or to update?

(This would be more of a set site structure where you use a blog system to better manage your website rather than thinking of a blog as a need to continually add new posts.)

Redirections

45:00 – Can a person use the Redirect option in cPanel for one of the Double 301 Redirects steps in the same manner as the other ways you taught?

– Have you tried posting with taxonomies of Post-1, Page-1, Bonus-1 , Post-2, Page-2, Bonus-2 and so on which all link to each other? In theory, to take advantage of visitor curiosity to try to out Post-3, Page-3, Bonus-3 searches if they saw the first 2, to dive deeper and soak up all the content.

Especially when the site is not one that shows the site posts readily in navigations, the numeric system could help them then.

Announcements

48:00 Announcements about upcoming events and products

IFTTT Recipes Issues

51:00 Can someone please remind me where Bradley Benner updated our understanding of proper triggers / actions across tiers to prevent multiple syndications (over and over and over…)?

1:00:00 FYI… There are some issues with IFTTT and the recipes. This is because of the Google changes that occurred this week. Mostly because YouTube is now passing “http://www.youtu.be/” to the IFTTT URL insert tag. This has caused some embedding issues. Seems it no longer passes the “watch” url to IFTTT any longer.

Special Webinar

2:30 Special Webinar next Thursday – be sure to attend – owner of Outsource Ranking and Index Bear will be on to discuss how to use these tools and give out some special offers.

PBN Site Not Linking to Money Site

4:00 Should I be as concerned about content on a PBN site if I'm not linking to a money site?

I'm willing to bet that it would make sense to increase domain authority by having more content, especially syndicated content via IFTTT and all the other good stuff you train us to do. Even though I'm not directly targeting a money domain, I'm still getting high DA links to the domain and spreading links over more pages which should increase DA and ultimately the power of my money site links.

Could below average / spun content put my entire domain at risk in this scenario? Same question for curated / syndicated content as well. Is it in your estimation worthwhile to have this automated domain authority stack persisting forever or would the risk offset the potential rewards? What about the effect of syndicating say ten better than average blog pages (hand spun, relevant, non-linked to money sites) versus persistent below average quality content (less relevant, auto spun, non-linked)?

I guess what I'm trying to figure out is whether you tend to see diminished returns from having all of these tiered syndicated links and whether content quality matters as much when it's content minus links?

Some ideas for content and PBN content from a previous webinar: https://youtu.be/0jtPKE8b-EI?t=28m21s

8:00 Where do you buy/rent high authority links from?

Merging Existing Blog and Money Sites

12:00 I need to rank a new client's website. He already has a separate blog so I'll be using the RSS feed of his blog to help rank his money website. Would it be more efficient if he “merged” the money site and the blog?

Doorway Page Update & How To Avoid Getting Caught In It

By cpi1

There have been a few updates to Google's algorithm in the past two months. Two of which were publicized; the Doorway Page Update which is mentioned below by Barry Schwartz from the 1:oo minute – 2:06 minute mark, and the Mobile Friendly Site Update. There may have also been an update that hasn't been officially declared, dubbed as Phantom 2.

With the Mobile Friendly Update being the one that got the most attention, the Doorway Pages update almost went unnoticed for much of the SEO world. But it looks like some of the major business directory sites took a bit of a beating recently which may be attributed to the Doorway Pages update.

Andrew Shotland of Local SEO Guide shares some data he has been tracking here:

Did Local Directories Get Hit By Google’s Doorway Page Algo?

Perhaps SEMRush is still updating but if its organic search traffic graphs are even close to accurate it looks like May is the month that Google took care of all Local family business: Read full article…

So if this this is the case and business directories have got caught up in this algo update, how does this affect us as SEO's? According to Bright Local in a recent survey they conducted, 31% of SEO's use business directory listings (a.k.a. citations) in their link building strategy:

How do Local SEO’s build their links?

A lot of local SEOs clearly see citations as having dual benefit. We know about the benefit of citations to local search ranking; 55% of experts say accurate citations are ‘critical’ to local search ranking, and listing your business on important niche, local, or national directories – even without a link – has direct benefit on local ranking. But now we can see that 31% also view citations as an important link building tactic.

Citations do not have to include a link, only a mention or form of NAP. A citation with a link is seen as an added bonus. However it must be noted that although a business listing without a link on a low ranking directory will not harm your site… the same cannot be said for low quality directories where you do have a link.

If you are using citations for link building, you must be more discerning about the sites on which you are listed on.

So does this mean SEO's should stop building citations? Hardly. What it does mean is that those links may not generate as much traffic as they previously did before the Doorway Page update affected the directory sites. I certainly still plan on using citations for backlinks and NAP (Name, Address, Phone Number) mentions, but expect that they will have less overall influence on ranking for local terms now.

Some additional points to consider to keep from getting caught in the Doorway Page update ourselves are also outlined here by Andrew Shotland:

5 Ways Sites Can Dodge Google’s Doorway Page Update

While Google’s mobile-friendliness algorithm update seems to have captured the lion’s share of pageview-pumping SEO posts, the doorway page update has seen relatively few screaming SEO headlines. Thus, I thought I’d give the poor, ignored algorithm its due.

Last month, Google announced that it would be releasing a “ranking adjustment” to deal with doorway pages, noting that this update would have “a broad impact” on sites utilizing doorway campaigns.

I have heard a few rumblings here and there — and I have definitely seen “Gateway Page” warnings in Google Webmaster Tools in the past — but I have seen no evidence that this update has been released, particularly no “broad impact” evidence, so there may still be time to avoid this one if you are at risk. Here are some steps you can take. Read more…

So although it isn't conclusive yet as to whether the Doorway Page update has caused directories to be deprecated, I would assume that they will have less overall SEO value going forward. Another good reason to keep a robust SEO and backlinking strategy with diversified sources.
