Announcement

Adam: Good afternoon everybody. This is Hump Day Hangouts with Semantic Mastery. This is episode 47. Today is the 23rd of December. Before we get launching into everything, we wanted to, as always, go over announcements, do some housekeeping stuff, but we wanted to make sure you heard about the last chance here before we go public with our RYS Academy. If you didn't get the email or you didn't open it or whatever happened, we're giving people who are viewing as well as our email subscribers 10% off, and this is going to last until we go public the first thing on Tuesday. After that, it's gone, guaranteed. If you want to, I'm going to pop the link up top to go check it out, and the code, which I will also put on the event page, is RYS viewer and then the number 10, and that's all one thing. We're going to pop those on the page. If you're interesting, highly recommend you go check it out now, and, Marco, if you want to fill them in a little bit more.

Marco: We're just showing fantastic results all across the board with keywords that are difficult, not just the low hanging fruit like we teach always go after the lower hanging fruit, but keywords that have a lot of competition, so if this is what you're after, this is the way to do it.

Adam: Yeah, and 1 quick thing, too, on the coupon code if you use it, make sure you type it in. Don't try to copy and paste. There's been some people having some issues with that. If you haven't visited the sales page in a little bit, we added some updated live rankings on there, so why don't you go please check that out after Hump Day Hangouts. Stay here, watch a video, then go over there.

Bradley: Cool, so everybody else can say hi now?

Adam: Yeah, if you want to. Oh yeah, there's other people here.

Hernan: Oh, thanks, Adam. Hey, everyone. It's good to be here.

Bradley: What's up Chris?

Chris: Hello, everybody.

Bradley: As Adam said, RYS Academy, we're publicly launching it next Tuesday. It had really been just an internal thing with our subscriber list, so this is the last opportunity for you guys to get it for any less than what the retail pricing is going to be. I highly recommend you go check it out. Like Adam said, we've been updating the sales page with some testimonials from people, some of our subscribers that have purchased, as well as some examples of live-ranking stuff that you can go check right now for yourself to see, quite impressive, in my opinion, so go check it out. Other than that, we have 1 other thing we wanted to announce which was here's a link. Adam, can you drop the link for the contest?

What Are The Must Have WP Plugins?

By Semantic Mastery

During Episode 46 of our weekly Hump Day Hangouts a viewer had a question that comes up frequently – what are our favorite WordPress plugins that tend to be installed across many sites and for many situations?

The exact question was:

You mention that you have a template site that has specific plug ins that you always use. Question- What are the must have plug ins for your any word-press site? (not the security plugins)

We compiled a quick list of free and paid plugins that we tend to use widely, while mentioning that there is no “single list” of plugins that you want to use on every site! This is due to various reasons, but the most important being that not all sites share the same intent or purpose and your plugin and design is therefore going to differ. That said, here is the list of plugins that we consider must have's for nearly any site!

These plugins can perform many of the tasks or setup options that might be required of a base setup – after that it's up to you to customize!

Although the viewer mentioned non-security plugins, we felt we HAD to mention Wordfence Security so that as many people as possible at least take into account the security of their site and hopefully protect it as well as possible.

Announcement

Adam: Welcome to your HumpDay Hangouts. Today is the 16th of September. This is episode 46, so we're rolling right on towards 52 straight episodes here. We're going to keep our finger crossed. Everybody stays healthy and be able to make this so we can hit our year mark. Let's see. Almost everybody; Chris is not with us. He's out. I believe he's doing a marketing conference, but we do have Hernan, Marco, and Bradley. How's it going, guys.

Hernan: Hey, everyone. It's good to be here.

Marco: Hey, everybody. What's up?

Bradley: Hey, guys. It's me, Bradley. Adam, your video or camera is not working today. What's up with that?

Adam: Really?

Bradley: Yeah, it's just a black screen.

Adam: It's just awesome new webcam I got, I guess.

Bradley: I think it's probably operator error. It's most likely.

Male: That's too bad.

Bradley: Now I can see at least your image. That's better than nothing. Okay, guys. We don't have really any announcements other than, like Adam said, we're 6 weeks away from 52 weeks, which is our 1-year anniversary. We haven't missed a single week yet, so knock on wood, we'll make it another 6 weeks. If we do, we're going to be doing something special. We're gonna leave it at that, so just count on for our 1-year anniversary. We're going to be doing something special so, guys, be on the lookout for some more announcements as we get [closer 00:01:34] to it. There is Adam. Adam, say hi.

Adam: How's it going? Sorry about that. That was maybe user error but we'll never know.

How To Use Crowdsearching With Networks

By Semantic Mastery

A viewer during HDHO Episode 45 had a question about how to correctly use microtask workers in a CTR type program such as Crowdsearch.me (https://semanticmastery.com/crowdsearchme) with IFTTT Networks.

These types of tasks involve using micro task workers to search for your site (website, web 2.0, IFTTT Property, or anything else) with a specific search string and to then click through to your site and do any additional tasks. You can, and should, use a variety of search strings as always going for keywords is not a good long term plan – you can use other branded search strings and more to make these tasks more realistic in terms of searches performed.

Watch this short video for more information on putting Crowdsearch.me to good use and how you can get the most out of this powerful tool.

The viewer's exact question from the Hump Day Hangout was:

How deep into a my network should I use crowdsearch? Is it on every property on every wheel, or just the google properties?

If you haven't tried micro tasks CTR activities and want to find out more – visit this link: https://semanticmastery.com/crowdsearchme.

Best Practices For Local SEO NAP Issues

By Semantic Mastery

During Episode 44 of our weekly SEO Q&A Humpday Hangouts we had a good question about how to deal with a client that has Name, Address, Phone (NAP) inconsistencies.

This can be a HUGE problem that can take a long time to get straightened out – how would you deal with this? Check out the video to see what we recommend in this particular situation.

The exact question asked by the viewer about the NAP issues was:

Question regarding Best Practices for a local client who services at customers' location (i.e. roofing), with inconsistent NAP.

He started with Address A, which was his home far from the city center and is showing up on his citations. He then moved to a rental home near the city center and changed the address in his Google My Business to that address (Address B) and got it verified there (address B is showing in his Google+ Page). Within the next 12-18 months he plans to buy a new house, so he'll be at Address C…

Getting these issues dealt with is very important as you will continue to have problems with client properties if you do not resolve NAP inconsistencies quickly.

Pushing Videos To Higher Ranking After IFTTT Syndication

By Semantic Mastery

During Episode 43 of our weekly free SEO Q&A webinar a viewer had a question about what needed to be done to move a video that had been previously syndicated to a higher position in the search results.

They were not sure if more time was needed, additional off site SEO was required, or what to do…

Here's their question:

So I've gone through the IFTTT training and have created all the properties as described, did the RSS feeds, did the livestream, added ongoing content to the blogs and uploaded my first video. Blogs have been active for about 2 weeks.

Ranked #6 on YouTube and nowhere to be found on Google for the video. Just wondering the next steps or if i need to let more time to pass. The YouTube account is not verified if that makes a difference.

Part of helping out the video rankings included telling the viewer about the power behind playlists in YouTube – you can find out more with our detailed short course on this very topic here: https://youtube.silo.academy

How To Syndicate Existing Videos To Networks

By Semantic Mastery

Last week, during Episode 39 of our weekly Humpday Hangouts, we had a question from a viewer – one that has come up frequently.

Lots of people wonder how you can deal with getting existing videos to an IFTTT Network.

Perhaps you have added new properties to the network or maybe you already had videos on your YouTube channel and now want to ensure they go out onto your web 2.0 and social properties.

Good news! It's a fairly simple process, although still a bit manual, to get your videos syndicated out onto your network for a boost in ranking power. Check out the video to find out how you can take care of this and be ready for the next time it may happen.
