Contextually Linking Keyword-Location Pages on a Silo Site in SERP Shaker

By April

In the 68th episode of Semantic Mastery's weekly Hump Day Hangouts, one participant asked about contextual linking of siloed pages that contain location as keywords.

The exact question was:

If building out a serpshaker style – local services site (my services) with each silo/category having around 75 Keyword-Location pages, (a.) is it advisable to contextually link pages in each silo to each other manually(in their respective silos only), or (b.) are they already technically linked to each other by virtue of the drop down menu at the top of each page near the header, which displays all the pages?

What is the Best Method in Ranking Inner Pages in Google?

By April

During episode 68 of our weekly Hump Day Hangouts, a viewer asked about the best ways on how to improve the ranking of an inner page, which has been stuck for quite some time on the second page of search results page.

Potential client has a site with a lot of anchor text for “criminal defense attorney + city” to the homepage of a branded domain (for example johnsmith.com) it ranks well for “criminal defense+city” but now he wants to rank for another area of law. Google has already associated his homepage with criminal defense (hence his domain's first page ranking for that term). Will it be 10X harder to rank an inner page for “business attorney+city”? If so, what’s the best method to move forward? Should I suggest creating a separate website? I don't want to take on an impossible challenge in an already competitive niche. Plus I've heard attorney's are a pain in the ass to work with. This is a warm lead is the only reason I'm entertaining this potential client. ?

By April

During episode 67 of our weekly Hump Day Hangouts, one question asked was about Syndwire and how to use it with IFTTT.

The exact question was:

Can you explain the basics of Syndwire to me and how I could use it with IFTTT? Thank you for all your hard work, guys!?

In the video, Bradley discusses that Syndwire is a syndication tool that is useful in syndicating content in IFTTT including social media, social networking, and social bookmarks. Unlike IFTTT, Syndwire is a bit of a manual syndication since one is required to log in to the dashboard and create content. Bradley does not recommend using Syndwire to money site but he suggests to use this content syndication tool to 2nd tiers and youtube videos embeds. Hernan added that Syndwire is useful for Web 2.0 as well as in social media sites. Another alternative to Syndwire is OnlyWire.

The exact question was:

Authority backlinks in video descriptions or not (when there is no branded website associated with or available for that particular video) as far as diluting SEO ranking power? I have not had time to test this myself and wondered what your results have been over the years.

How Does Press Releases Help in Diluting Anchor Texts?

By April

In episode 67 of Semantic Mastery's weekly Hump Day Hangouts, one of the questions asked was about the impact of using press releases on diluting anchor text density.

The exact question was:

Hey guys. Could you briefly explain to me how press releases help dilute anchor text, when 90% of the links you get are nofollow. Does the anchor text count towards your backlink anchor profile but not for ranking a particular keyword since the press links are nofollow and don't pass KW relevance? Thanks again. ?
