During the Episode 52nd of our weekly Hump Day Hangouts, someone has asked about the connection between page authority (PA) and domain authority (DA) to a site's ranking in search engine results page.
The exact question that is being asked during the hangout was:
My site is currently at a DA of 6 and PA 1 for all my pages, but I have been trying some domain authority stacking stuff and DA boosting, slip streaming SAPE links through 2x 301, building links, etc but I am not seeing a whole lot of movement after I did my first PBN link. I guess what I am asking is after MOZ updates PA & DA and google sees what should be a much higher DA & PA for my site will my pages dramatically increase in ranking as right now they are all stuck on page 3 -7 with DA6 PA1?
Adam: Hey everybody. Welcome to Hump Day Hangouts. Today is the 21st of October. This is episode 51, so we're one away. Let's go down the line, like we always do, and say hello. How's it going Hernan?
Hernan: Hey everyone. It's good to be here.
Adam: Hey Marco, what's up?
Marco: Hey everybody. What's happening?
Adam: Bradley, how's it going?
Bradley: What's up everyone.
Adam: All right, well we just got a few announcements to run through today before we get started. Today, the first one, hopefully everyone, that's on right now, is going to be here next week because next week will be episode 52. That's going to be one year of Hump Day Hangouts. We're pretty happy about that and I'll let Bradley say some more happy things about that in a minute.
I just wanted to tell everybody we are going to be doing another contest. We did one a few weeks back. We're going to be giving away six months of Masterclass, one month, free, of the video, Power House, all right, which wasn't even been released yet, but we going to hook somebody up with that. Then, we're going to give away an IFTTT Network. That's all going to be done through our campaign, like we did last time, we're you can send a link, share it, you know, ans get chances to win that way.
Then, someone, attending live, is going to win three months free of Mastermind. All right, so, keep that in mind. Hopefully that's some good incentive for you to be hanging out with us next week live.
Bradley: The more times you share the share link, the better your changes are, so share the hell out of it.
Adam: Yep. Yeah definitely. We'll be sending out some more information about that. Obviously, we'll give you the link and all that, so you can get going on that, and have a good chance to win.
Also, just wanted to say that we're going to be doing a meet up in Costa Rica. Our Mastermind members are going to get the first chance to do this. This is going to involve some kind of higher level training as well as some networking opportunities. That's going to be in February 2016. We'll be telling them more about that, and then, if there are some spots left over, which we doubt, but there may be a chance for some other people to go.
During Episode 51 of our weekly Hump Day Hangout webinars, a viewer had a question about building links after syndicating a video. The question pertains to more than just “when do I start?” and includes details like link velocity, types of links to build to your videos, and more.
If you have questions about how to best set up a campaign to help push your videos to higher rankings, be sure to check out this short video.
The exact question asked during the webinar was:
After syndicating a video through an IFTTT network, how long do you wait before doing any advanced link building techniques?
We often get questions about SEO silo, especially how to set them up on the internal links of the website. Each scenario is going to be different so it is difficult for us to tell you which website silo architecture is best without knowing all of the details. So instead of us trying to tell you, you should be able to determine how to structure your silos on your own.
There are two main types of website silo structure: Simple and Complex. I have created a video describing each below that should help you to make the right decisionin siloing pages and to what kind of silo structure will be right for your site.
Please note: I recommend trying to use the simple silo for most search engines projects due to it being simple to setup (and still VERY effective). Complex silos often create additional challenges that are unnecessary for most website projects. I know that 90% of SEOs are going to want to over-complicate this, but try not to. Keep it simple if possible.
Here is a method we have been testing and it turns out that this works great for videos and for local sites.
You will need access to a referral traffic tool — or as I like to call it “CT (Click-Thru) Spam” — like Crowd Search.
Here is how it works
So what you do is create a post on a web 2 or social profile (Twitter works great for this right now) and use a unique hashtag in the post and a link to your money site.
Then get the post indexed and setup the CS campaign to search for hashtag (or another unique phrase from within the post).
Next you turn “Random Browsing” off inside of CS and tell the search to click the link to your money site.
This creates referral traffic and helps the site to be given more authority.
Of course you should have Analytics installed so Google sees the referral source. Alternatively (if you don't use Analytics), you can use goo.gl short links to shorten your money site link and use the short link in the web 2 post and tell CS to click the short link. This will still inject Analytics (click analytics) into the link so that Google knows it is referral traffic.
Anyway, I have tested this and it works well for local. Just don't be stupid and send a ton of traffic thru those links. Set it to like 30 – 45 per month or whatever is appropriate for your niche and local search volumes.
And as mentioned above, Twitter works well for this since there is a whole “Bromance” thing going on between Google and Twitter right now.
We originally started using this method for videos, but have also been using for local sites and having good results with it.
During Episode 50 of our weekly Hump Day Hangouts webinar, a viewer had several questions about productivity and organization as it pertains to running an agency – a question that just as well could be directed towards a freelancer with several clients.
When getting to the point of handling multiple clients you have to use a system that allows for time management, organization, and team management – by the time you have several clients you should definitely be utilizing processes and tools like Trello to assign and monitor tasks that can be outsourced.
The specific questions asked were:
Do you have a day to day set workflow that we can use?
How do you organize your day to day activities?
What kind of tools do you use to manage your team and organize your activities?
Check out the video to hear how Bradley and the others arrange their activities and get the most out of their time using tested methods and tools that save time, increase productivity, and let them work efficiently with their team.
Bradley: Two weeks away from the 1-year anniversary and, knock on wood, we haven't missed a single episode yet. And we're planning on not missing anymore between now and the 1-year anniversary as long as I'm still breathing. Even if I don't make it, one of these other guys will. We got Hernan and Marco with us today. Adam is out doing whatever Adam does whenever he doesn't want to work with us. So, and now Chris just joined so I'll go right down the line. What's up Chris?
Chris: Hello everybody.
Bradley: Mark excuse me, Hernan, what's up man?
Hernan: Hey everyone it's good to be here.
Bradley: And last but not least, Marco.
Marco: Hey everybody, what's up?
Bradley: So the only announcements we have today is we were just talking about this guys, what was the first one? Link building right?
Hernan: Link building. Yeah.
Bradley: Okay. Our link building service is pretty much live again. It will be available for the general public again within the next week or so I would say. Possibly even by Friday of this week. So it's new and improved. We've been re-developing that for the last two months or so. We've had it shut down because of some bottle neck issues that we were having with FCS networker. so we've developed a new method that is working quite well and that's going to be available.
So you guys will have access to that again if you need link building services to your IFTTT networks to PBN's to citations to boost up citations. If you do local SEO. There's a lot of things that you can use our link building service for. Very very effective. All right number two is a video powerhouse. We've been working on that now for what? 4 months? I think about 4 months now.
On Episode 49 of our weekly Hump Day Hangout SEO Q&A webinar we had a viewer with a question about how to correctly use anchor text when linking within a tiered structure. Specifically, they were interested in finding out how to vary anchor text ratios and whether or not to use branded terms, broad terms, and navigational terms such as “click here”.
The specific question asked was:
What is best practice for anchor text when back linking from Tier 3 and Tier 2 properties? Should you use broad, exact or branded? Geo modified or no? What is best practice for backlinking from Tier 1?
Also, what anchors should you use when blasting your web 2.0 properties?
Check out the video above for a quick rundown of best practices when backlinking in a tiered network structure.
Adam: Hey everybody, welcome to this week's Hump Day Hangout. This is episode 49 and today is the 7th of October, so we're rolling into October. We're getting close to episode 52, but more on that later. How's it going Chris?
Chris: Hey, how you doing?
Adam: Good, good. Hernan, how's it going?
Hernan: Hi everyone it's good to be here.
Adam: Sorry guys. You just made my day, I don't know that's almost as good as [Wayne's 00:00:32]. All right, hey Marco, how's it going?
Marco: I don't know yet.
Adam: Last but not least Bradley how you doing?
Bradley: What's up guys?
Adam: Man, we've got a few announcements to go over, hopefully Hernan has got his voice cleared up so he can do some more talking.
Hernan: Yeah, I am, sorry.
Adam: Just some real quick announcements then we'll get into the fun stuff. Our link building services that we were talking about last week we mentioned we were trying to get that back online we're going to be opening up very shortly. If you're on the waiting list we'll be getting to you and you'll be opening up and probably just taking I think about a hundred orders. It depends, we've got to take a look at it here shortly, but we'll be sending out some more information on that.
Let's see, we have the RYS contest. Before we get to that I just want to say when we get to episode 52 we decided we're also going to do some contest with that. Part of that is going to be for only live attendees. If you're watching later in the week or something, episode 52 is going to be one you definitely want to be there. We did do the drawings for the RYS contest. If I full this up it looks like we had Steven at zeroshoes.com is the winner of the RYS. He's getting free access to RYS academy, he's getting … Well done. [crosstalk 00:01:58]. Good job. What's that?
