Is It ‘Duplicate Content’ If You Use The Same Keyword Targeted Content For City Pages Of A Local Lead Gen Site?

By April

In episode 174 of our weekly Hump Day Hangouts, one participant asked whether using the same keyword targeted content for the city pages of a local lead gen site would be considered duplicate content and how much one could get away with.

The exact question was:

1) When setting up individual pages on one local lead gen site for each city I want to target in a specific niche, I presume that using the same keyword targeted content with the appropriate location changes for all the city pages will be considered by Google to be “”duplicate content”” and they will de-index it. Is that correct, and if so, what percentage of duplication can I get away with so that I don't have to make the content for each city page 100% unique?

Would A 301 Redirect Fix Websites With Duplicate Content Issues?

By April

In episode 92 of our weekly Hump Day Hangouts, one viewer wanted to know if a 301 redirect can fix duplicate content issues for the affected websites.

The exact question was:

Hey Guys
I have a new client that has 2 sites with duplicate content on both.
Site A has some ranking on the first page, but no metrics.
Site B has good metrics but no ranking. My question is;
If I take site A down, will a simple 301 redirect to site B, fix the problem of duplicate content, and save the ranking on Google??

Does Having A Category Page Causes Duplicate Content Issues As It Is Displaying Full Text?

By April

During the 90th episode of Semantic Mastery's weekly Hump Day Hangouts, one participant asked about having duplicate content issues when displaying category page.

The exact question was:

Hi guys, hope your well, got a quick question for you.

I have a site and I'm using a free theme so not much customization there but I'm not too bothered about this but for my blog I have it on a category page, so I can have blog/post-name, my question is, will this cause duplicate content issues, as it is displaying full text on the category page? Do I need to find a way to no index the blog category page or should I just leave it alone? Many Thanks
