Can I Index A TLD (Business) Website Without Setting It As The Main Website In A GMB Listing?

By April

In Hump Day Hangouts episode 192, one participant asked how to index a TLD website (business.site) without setting it as the main website in a GMB listing.

The exact question was:

2. For the same listing I have a TLD website but I've also created the internal GMB website. Is there any way to index the business.site without setting it as the main website in my listing?

Thanks again!

Does Having The City Name In Facebook Different From GMB Listing Cause NAP Inconsistencies?

By April

In episode 192 of our weekly Hump Day Hangouts, one viewer asked whether having the city name displayed on Facebook different to that on the GMB listing will cause NAP inconsistencies.

The exact question was:

Hi guys, thanks you for all the content you put on the channel for free. It's a great reference.

I got 2 short questions:
1. I have a verified GMB listing and when setting up the Facebook profile, the city name displays differently (FB only allows to pick from a display menu).
Will this cause any NAP inconsistency with my GMB profile (which I prefer not to touch)? Or should I hide the address in FB? By the way, I am displaying the address in GMB and want to keep it that way

Is There A Way To Track The Calls From A GMB Listing Or Posts?

By April

In episode 185 of our weekly Hump Day Hangouts, one participant asked if there is a way to track the calls from a GMB listing or posts other than changing the phone number in all existing citations and listing to a tracking number.

The exact question was:

Hi Guys,

Thank you VERY much again for the help you provide, it is GREATLY appreciated 🙂

1) Is there any way to track the calls from a GBM listing or from GMB Posts other than changing the phone number in all of the existing citations and the listing to a tracking number so that all the NAPs match? . . . . If not, how do you justify the value of your monthly ranking charge without having to rely on the honesty of the client to confirm they're now getting more calls?

Should I Revive An Old And Verified GMB Listing Or Replace It With A New NAP?

By April

In episode 184 of Semantic Mastery's weekly Hump Day Hangouts, one participant asked about the things to consider when deciding whether to revive an old and verified GMB listing or replace it with a new NAP.

The exact question was:

Purchasing Local GMB Pro was an obvious no brainer. While I am going through the training I want to test the method to revive some old lead gen (contractor) properties that I just let die. I have a Lead Gen Brand with 2 “”Locations”” that have been verified at UPS Stores (back when that was a thing). Both locations have tons of citations built and I checked GMB Insights and they both are showing up in Maps/Search occasionally. Considering you guys still verify PO Boxes..is there any forseeable reason not to use an old (verified) UPS Store address? Or better question, are there particular “”health checks”” to see if you should let a verified address die and replace it with a new NAP?

How Can You Make Your GMB Appear In The Map Pack For Nearby Cities?

By April

In episode 182 of Semantic Mastery's weekly Hump Day Hangouts, one viewer asked how to make your GMB appear in the map pack for nearby cities in addition to those of GMB-registered cities.

The exact question was:

This might be a little off-topic from JUST SEO, but I'm trying to confirm.

I have an HVAC client that's ranking well in the 3-pack in his GMB registered cities. He wants to spend some money on Adwords and try to show up in nearby cities' Map Packs. It's my understanding that Adwords uses the Location Extension to get a listing to show up in the Map Pack, so there is no way to appear in cities where you don't have a GMB listing.

But… I've seen listings of his competitors who have a GMB in the MAJOR CITY but are appearing in the Map Pack for a suburb, so it appears it is possible. And their ad listing actually shows the MAJOR CITY for location. Do you have any idea on how this might be accomplished?

How Do You Change The Business Name And Categories For A GMB Listing?

By April

In the 147th episode of Semantic Mastery's weekly Hump Day Hangouts, one participant asked how one can change the categories and business name of a GMB listing.

The exact question was:

Hey Guys,

I just setup a GMB for snow removal, still waiting on the post card, and I set the category to be “”snow removal””. But since I am using my personal address and dont have access to a second address how would I switch the GMB listing to contain both Snow Removal and Landscaping categories so that I can rank for both keywords in the map pack? I am guessing I will have to re-verify the listing after making any changes? Oh I am also thinking of changing the business name to contain the words “”Snow and Lawn”” to further help rank in the map pack. (oh snow and landscaping keywords are used together very often up north, which obviously google knows)

Thanks so much ! 🙂
