What Is Considered Over-Optimization In SEO?

By April

In episode 183 of Semantic Mastery's weekly Hump Day Hangouts, one participant asked what is considered over-optimization as far as SEO is concerned.

The exact question was:

What is considered over optimization as far as SEO? Having the exact title match the keywords I am trying to rank? Or tags? Besides Yoast, is there a site where I can input my post or article and check it to see if I am over optimized?

Is It Over-Optimized To Use Different Industries As SubDomains In The Same Root Domain?

By April

During episode 83 of our weekly Hump Day Hangouts, one participant asked if using industries as subdomains in the same root domain would over-optimized a particular website.

The exact question was:

My question is, lets say I have a domain plumbersnearme.com – I have one like thus but not for plumbers, is that over optimized? This is now a keyword, I mean “INDUSTRY” near me.

And if I subdomain out per city; london.plumbersnearme.com – manchester.plumbersnearme.com etc, can I have the business name as london plumbers near me for a google maps listing using the same root but subdomaining cities out to target other areas or should I just use completely seperate domains?
