Would It Be Easier To Rank A Regular-Looking Local Business Site With NAP In Google Without Targeting A Particular Niche?

In the 241st episode of Semantic Mastery's weekly Hump Day Hangouts, one participant asked if it will be easier to rank a regular-looking local business site with NAP in Google without targeting a particular niche.

The exact question was:

Hi Guys, . . . thanks again for your Hump Day help, as usual it is GREATLY appreciated (smile) . . . .If I don't want to try to rank in the GMB 3-Pack but instead rank a site on the first page organically and rent out the home page to a local business, is it easier to rank a site that looks like a regular local business to Google and includes an NAP, or a site that has tons of content targeted to both the particular business niche and the geo location, but is not branded with an NAP nor configured like an actual business site?

This Stuff Works
